Fat freezing (cryolipolysis)
August 7, 2018FAT reduction injections (LIPOLYSIS) with Ceccarelli Solution – QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
1. What is Ceccarelli Solution and how does it work?
It is a mesotherapy solution formulated by an Italian Professor Maurizio Ceccarelli which contains vitamin C and minute amount of iron. The vitamin C (ascorbic acid) in higher doses works as a pro-oxidant; when mixed with iron and injected into the fat tissue it initiates the Fenton reaction leading to generation of hydroxyl type radicals. These radicals trigger natural death of fat cells by a physiological process called apoptosis.
2. What are the indications for the injections with Ceccarelli Solution?
Lipolysis (breaking down fat) with Ceccarelli Solution is a nonsurgical method which may help with reduction of diet-resistant fat deposits (fat pockets) in an otherwise slim body.
Ceccarelli injections are NOT INDICATED for people with obesity (large amount of weight). These patients should first undergo a weight loss program before Ceccarelli Solution is be indicated. Fat lipolysis is NOT a substitute for exercising and dieting and is not part of any weight loss program. It is not an alternative treatment to liposuction.
The solution can be injected into the body and face including the following areas:
Face: fatty nasolabial bulges, fatty jowls, double chin and fatty jawline
Body: resistant fat on the abdomen, inner thighs, love handles, bra bulges, upper arms, knees, ankles as well as cellulite bulges.
3. How is the procedure performed?
The solution is mixed fresh on the same day of the treatment by a doctor. The formula is only available to medical practitioners who were trained in this procedure. The solution is injected into localized fat pockets (fat tissue under the skin) in a grid like pattern. On the body 1 ml per site (1 cm2) is injected. On the face 0.5 ml per site. An area of two hands is the largest area which can be treated in one session with maximum of 200 ml solution injected (200 injections). A topical anesthetic cream (numbing cream) is applied for 20-30 minutes prior the procedure. There is a certain degree of discomfort experienced by patients during the injections, which varies individually, from minimal to severe.
Depending on the area treated the procedure might take up to 1 hour (which includes the time of topical anesthesia).
4. How many treatments are needed and how often can they be repeated?
This depends on the amount of resistant fat that one wants to dissolve. On average 2 to 3 treatments are needed. They can be repeated every 3-4 weeks. Results are not the same in each patient and vary per individual. Some people do not respond satisfactoraly to Ceccarelli lipolysis solution.
5. How soon one can see the results?
Slow and gradual improvement can be seen after 3 weeks, the maximum results are seen after 8 weeks.
6. Is the procedure safe? Are there any side effects and contraindications?
The procedure is considered to be safe, it uses vitamin C and iron and once injected into the body triggers a naturally occurring physiological process called apoptosis (natural cells death).
The contraindications to Ceccarelli lipolysis include allergy to ascorbic acid (vitamin C) and/or to iron, bleeding disorders, using anticoagulants, dyslipidemia, pregnancy, breast breastfeeding, diabetes mellitus, compromised immune system including AIDS, stroke, recent cancer, blood clots, liver disease, serious kidney disease, active skin infection – bacterial or viral as well as known allergy to any ingredient used during mesotherapy procedure.
Possible risks and side effects include but not limited to: bruising, bleeding, swelling, discomfort, pain, burning sensations, skin discoloration, blisters, ulceration, lumpiness, hardness of the treated area, nodule formation at the injection sites as well as infection, allergic reactions, dizziness and nausea. Most of these side effects are temporary.
7. What are the post procedure recommendations?
One should stay hydrated. It is important to maintain a healthy body weight as the new weight gain will result in regrowth of fat cells.
8. Can Ceccarelli Lipolysis be combined with other procedures?
Yes, the procedure can be combined with other slimming procedures for example cryolipolysis (fat freezing, cool sculpting), ultrasonic cavitation, radiofrequency, Vellashape etc.
9. What is the cost of Ceccarelli Solution procedure?
The cost depends on amount of the solution used.
